"Oh yeah. Just couldn't contain myself with how much I was missin' you." Bobby took the teasing, he supposed he had to brace himself for that, given he'd reached out. He also turned his phone to show it to Aleister. It didn't have a button like that. It did, however, have a lot of individual buttons. It was not a smartphone. Bobby preferred to keep it old school those phones were sturdier.
He put the phone down on the desk now and crossed his arms in front of his chest. He was leaning against the desk, there was nothing between him and Aleister. Crossing his arms gave him some semblance of perceived protection. "Sam's gone missin'. Couple days ago now. I wanna know if you've heard anythin' about it. That's one of the Tenaz brothers. Lucifer's vessel. Hell seems like the port of call."
"Well, there's your problem. Don't worry, darling, I'll get you a better phone. You'll wonder how you ever lived without voice messages and a larger keyboard." They sometimes made those for old guys who couldn't text well so he assumed that would be a winner for the likes Bobby. He just hoped he could get a stylish looking one.
"I remember your Moose. Haven't seen him, haven't felt him, haven't heard a lick. If he was in hell, I would assume Lucifer would be kicking up a fuss in his cage but he's been mostly quiet. For Lucifer." He was never quiet but he wasn't especially worked up or anything. "Why? When did you last see the blighter? On the highway to hell?"
"Close enough. He was doing a summoning ritual, didn't tell anyone about it first. Matty sent me the pictures." Bobby turned to his computer, moving the mouse so the display would come back on. He gestured to the screen so that Aleister could have a closer look. "What do you make of it?"
There was Enochian, there were other strange runes. Honestly, for all Bobby knew he was trying to summon Lucifer. Some kind of angel, anyway, but nothing that pure. It was baffling. "When did you last check in with the devil? You sure that cage ain't rattlin'? Matty said Sam had been havin' dreams."
"Yeah, that isn't Lucifer. I know his sigil. That's the Archangel Raphael. I know, we once traded an item that was said to be one of the arrows from his quiver. It had the same symbols." His caduceus was also hotly sought after and he had a good idea where it might be but alas, demon's couldn't go there. "I thought you said all the archangels were dead or assumed dead."
Lucifer was in hell, Michael was absent, Gabriel was dead (suspected) and Raphael was dead (confirmed). So what was going on with the math here? "Your boy was summoning a dead archangel."
"Yeah. Raphael died. He got shanked by Lucifer in front of the boys. Wings traces and all." So that was as final as they knew it could get for an archangel, as opposed to the times before when Raphael had faked his death. "I've no idea what Sam was doin', trying to summon a dead archangel. Ain't as if he'd have a soul, nothing that'd turn into a ghost."
So why would he do anything like that? Bobby looked at the pictures again and then back at Aleister, hating this. He wasn't any closer to figuring out where Sam was and Matty was already on edge. "Thanks for the info." At least now he knew it was a summoning ritual for Raphael.
"I assume your boy thought it was worth a punt. So one has to assume, he had some proof or a very strong inkling that the archangel walked among us still." He didn't have any information for Bobby but he looked so upset and on edge. And for some stupid reason, that always bothered him. He reached out and put an arm around Bobby, practically draping himself over him as he smiled. Handsome man. He couldn't resist.
"Okay, tell you what. I'll go have an ask around and see who knows what. Okay? I'll come back for a chat and a whiskey later and we can see what we need to do or what we know." And that was all he could offer. Not for Moose, never for that jerk. No, he did it for Bobby.
The worrisome thing was that Aleister touching him didn't even bother him. Hell, he barely even took note of it in a way that was bothersome. It was almost welcome. Not a lot of friendly touching happening to him. Maybe that was why he simply let himself be touched as he nodded to what Aleister was offering. He realised it was likely a self-serving favour - surely the King of Hell had a vested interest in knowing the whereabouts of Lucifer's vessel - but it was a favour nonetheless.
And coming to tell him anything, plotting with him, that was as close to selfless as the demon could likely get. "Thanks," Bobby muttered, thinking about how close they stood.
"I can get myself a better phone. Then I'll voice text you next time." Whatever that was.
"I'm looking forward to hearing your deep, beautiful voice singing my praise shortly, darling." With a small smile, he wondered what was going on with him. He lacked a soul, he'd never been good at emotions even as a man and love was something foreign for him. Hell, not even affection was for him.
And yet, he had so much of it for Bobby. A weird, stupid fondness that blinded his judgement and somehow ended with him putting in more legwork that he should.
"Yeah. Whatever." What was it with that damn demon and his stupid voice and accent and the constant low-level and sometimes much higher level flirting? Made his face feel hot and him be flustered like a schoolboy instead of a hunter very much past his prime who should not be demon bait. Not as if he was one of the boys.
Bobby hesitated for an instant, then decided that he simply had to try and own this. Maybe then he'd feel less caught off-guard all the time. "See ya, darlin'."
